The judge in reference is the Honorable Richard A. Nielsen, Circuit Court Judge in the Circuit Court of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in and for Hillsborough County (Tampa), Florida Civil Division.
The judges ruling states;
1. This case will proceed under Ecclesiastical Islamic Law.
2. Under Ecclesiastical Islamic, pursuant to the Qur’an, Islamic brothers should try to resolve a dispute among themselves. When the brothers are unable to do so, they can agree to present the dispute to the greater community of brothers within the mosque or the Muslim community for resolution. If that is not done or does not result in a resolution of the dispute, the dispute is to be presented to an Islamic judge for determination, and that is or can be A’lim.
3. The remainder of the hearing will be to determine whether Islamic dispute resolution procedures have been followed in this matter.
In effect, due process in an American court is being denied and Sharia law is being imposed on an unwilling participant. Right here in Florida RedState

Yet the media and the left have complained and made fun of the states that want to ban Sharia law. This judge needs to be removed.

So much for the claim of separation of Church and State.
Oh wait...
That only applies to the Chirstian religion?
OK then.

Hope this will be appealed up to the US Supreme Court. Who the hell knew we were going to need a law specifically prohibiting the imposition of religion on the judicial system. :thatsright:And, IMO, this is a matter of vastly more importance than jumping up and down stomping your feet over a prayer said prior to the opening of Congress, or the words "under God" in the Pledge and on the money. I will wait with breathless anticipation for the howls of dissent from the ACLU, the American Atheists, separation of state and religion groups in general. Probably hear from them around the same time as we hear from NOW. As rich says, it's separation of church and state only for Christians. And women's dignity and rights take a backseat to the "rights" of Islamic crazies in our own country.

For what it's worth, there is no constitutional guarantee to separation of church and state.

For what it's worth, Sharia law is incompatible with the Constitution.

If the people in Hillsborough County don’t start recall proceedings against this judge or do what they can to get this idiot off the bench, then they deserve everything they get. This is what’s wrong with America. The American people won’t stand up for this blessed country anymore. If America loses it’s foundation of being a country of American laws the repercussions could be severe and very difficult to reverse. Tom does a great job here (in the article) of laying out the facts of the case because once our judiciary branch of government is compromised by foreign laws in violation of Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution – we are in heap deep doo-doo. I hope Florida passes a similar law to Oklahomas’ law, which was passed in 2010 by 70%, halting the use of foreign law in their courts.
