Nice job Frank!
I did once get a hand written note from Rep. Lane Evans D-IL after I wrote a letter to the editor sticking up for him after he helped keep jobs at the Rock Island Army Arsenal.
Lane was a vet, and a good guy, that had to run with a D behind his name to win in a very blue colar area...he was always against military cuts...Lane & I ended up being friends and now he suffers from Parkinson's Disease and had to retire in 2006. His brother was trying to screw him around by trying to get legal control of his affairs, you know, the check book. I'm pretty sure Lane's brother has a DU name.
Lane was pretty liberal on social issues, but this pretty much sums it up:
However, he had a reputation for strong constituent service. The 17th has a large number of Vietnam veterans who generally accepted his liberal social views due to his support for their interests. The Rock Island Arsenal is a major employer within the district. During his time in office, his support of the Arsenal helped keep it open while cuts were being made nationwide.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lane_EvansI also know the dumbass that took his place, Phil Hare. There was another guy from Lane's office that should of took over....but I guess he was too nice of a guy to get it.
I was pretty shocked to see that hand written note from him come in the mail. They do read the papers!
